The track record of an alternative investment platform is a significant factor, like that of deal flow, because it provides insight into the success and reliability of the platform. Whereas deal flow suggests the number of market transactions and general market interest in an investment, track record provides insight into the historical performance of the investment itself. In order to evaluate a fund’s track record, one uses performance measures such as MOIC, TVPI, and IRR, which are explained in greater detail in "Investment Considerations," under the subheading "Investment Measurement."
